A SPICY sausage known as the Welsh Dragon will have to be renamed after trading standards' officers warned manufacturers that they could face prosecution because...
...wait for it...
...it does not contain dragon.
Yep, Black Mountains Smokery does indeed make the so called dragon sausage, named after the Welsh symbol though, rather than its ingredients - which are listed on the packet - spicy pork, leek and chilli. It seem they've decided to ignore the trading standards threat though on their website at least.
Sausage-maker Jon Carthew claims to have not actually received any customer complaints about the dissatisfaction of not finding a mythical beast's innards within their meaty tubes, but nonetheless a Powys County Council spokesperson insists that "The product was not sufficiently precise to inform a purchaser of the true nature of the food".
The Council did admit they didn't think too many people would imagine dragon meat was actually being used but claimed that "we would not want vegetarians to buy the sausages believing they were meat free". Because as we all know, not only do dragons literally roam the Welsh highlands en masse, but they're also made out of cabbage.

Dragon Sausage
Last I looked, Hot Dogs do not contain dog, either. (Or maybe they do...)
Extremely good
Extremely good point...perhaps councils throughout the nation better get legislating against the phrase "hot dog" in case it misleads us poor consumers. Although as you say, given the (US) National Hot Dog and Sausage Council - who'd have thought there was such a thing - apparently defines them as containing "specially selected meat trimmings" one would have to test them to be sure the description was innaccurate. Yum.
